Bringing in October with Style
So, this past weekend was also a fun and busy one. On Friday night, Keelan and I went to an 80's themed party for our friend Katie's birthday. It was hilarious seeing the outfits, the dancing and the boys in their neon bike shorts!! :-)
I have to say that I loved seeing Keelan in all of his purple glory here!
Saturday I had planned on doing a long trail run, but woke up pretty hungover and tired again... around noon - Keelan and I decided that going to Castlegar for sushi would be way more fun! It was a perfect fall day - warm in the sun, a cool breeze and gorgeous fall colors everywhere. After lunch I decided that my body needed a break from its daily pounding, so I went for a glorious 2 hour walk around Rossland. I explored all sorts of new little streets that I never knew existed.
Saturday night, we watched this insane documentary about a guy who lived with Grizzly Bears in Alaska for 13 years before one ate him. I think it was called Grizzly Man - it was an insane movie - this guy was insane! (but there was some wicked footage)

Sunday I decided I wanted to run the 7-Summits Trail - no one else wanted to run with me (and Keelan didn't want to hike it) so I got him to drop me off at the Nancy Greene Summit and I ran on my own. When I got to the 18km mark at the top of the ski hill, I ran down a cat trail to the mountain bike bike, ran down the mountain bike trails, through the red parking lot and back home to Rossland on the Centennial Trail.
It was probably a 30km + run once I got home and it took me just under 4 hours. It was amazing to get such a long solo workout in when I wasn't in race mode. A first for me in a long time.
Of course, being the graceful person that I am, I fell and scraped and bruised my knee - as usual. So again on monday morning, the whole office got to check out the rock rash on my legs! I am like a five year old with perpetual bandaids on my knees!! Sunday night - Keelan cooked me dinner!! (this is a rare enough occurance that I was pretty exited especially because dinner was AMAZING!!!) - so it was the perfect way to end a gorgeous day of adventure!
I am exited to see what the upcoming long weekend has in store for me. During the week, I only really have time for short trail runs or rides (stupid short fall days), so the real adventure happens on the weekends.
